Website Design

Why Having A Professionally Designed Website Matters:

There are several reasons for having your company website designed by a professional. There are several factors to considered when designing a website. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials that claim building your own company website is a breeze. I don’t argue the fact that you can build your own website using their services. The downside is the amount of customization and the ability to set yourself apart from your competitors. Here are a few examples of why you should consider using an experienced web design company or individual:

  • Web design is an art which takes years to perfect. When you look at a website what you see on-screen are the results of several years training and if done correctly a work of art.
  • It’s important that your website is aesthetically pleasing, but functionality and proper coding is equally or even more important than the look of a website.
  • Example: You find an online website design service that has pre built web templates. The template may look nice, but more than likely it doesn’t contain semantic code. When Google or other search engines crawl your website it takes into consideration the quality and Accessibility of your code.
  • If your website is poorly coded then it will be hard if not impossible to get a good search engine listing. Search engine optimization starts at with a quality coded website template or theme.

Another thing you should consider is your competition. If your competitor has a professional designed website while yours is a stock or standard template, you are already at a disadvantage. Most consumers have access to the web, so your website and it’s design will make your first impression on potential clients. Most people who browse the Internet to research a product or service, they usually don’t simply click and buy from the first website they find. Online consumers are becoming better at browsing and comparing products before purchasing what they are looking for. If your website is sub-standard or not as professional as a competitors, you may not get the chance to show that you have a superior product or service simply because the small amount you were trying to save by designing you website by yourself.

Professionally designed websites will load faster, and be more accessible to people with impairments or handicaps. This is often overlooked by novice web designers. Making your website accessible for users with disabilities is not only important for a good user experience, it also affects your SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

These are only a few of the reasons to spend a few dollars on a well designed website. I have worked in a variety of jobs ranging from a general laborer, crane operator, shipping manager, graphic designer, and website designer. One thing I have noticed is the fact that many business owners don’t have a long-term thinking process when it comes to saving money. It isn’t a hard figure like the price of hiring a designer, but in almost every case the upfront cost is greatly out-numbered by the amount of revenue that is lost from making the incorrect decision.

I like your work, but are these the only websites you have designed?

    Do you also do re-designs?

Hello Dave, thanks for the compliment. I have actually designed quite a few websites in the past year. I have been very busy. I simply haven’t found the time to update my personal website.

If you would like to talk with me about designing a website(s) for you, you can reach me from the “contact me” tab. I look forward to speaking with you.
