Chris is the creator of the WordPress based website Digging Into WordPress which is also the tile of his book. If you’re a WordPress designer/developer or if you plan on becoming one I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy of Digging Into WordPress.

Extend your Web design skills by reading category based articles on A List Apart. This website has a large list of articles dedicated to expanding web designers and graphic designers knowledge of Code, Culture, Design, Content and about every element of the design process. A List Apart is a light, quick loading website that will be a good edition to your web design references collection.

Hongkiat is a good resource for links to free graphics files like icons, templates and more.

There are some tutorials, but mostly I use this to find links to icon sets and other free resources for graphic and website designers.

Web Monkey is a good source to learn about website design and development. Whether you are a seasoned pro, or just beginning to learn about website design, Web Monkey is a great place to perfect your design skills. Web Monkey has tutorials on HTML, JavaScript, general design, and more. You can find HTML, CSS and special character cheat sheets for using as a reference when designing on their website. Web Monkey is truly one of the most complete website design and scripting resources online.

Smashing Magazine is another great source for web designers and graphic designers. Smashing Magazine focuses mostly on WordPress web design, CSS, and their own as well as links to freebies including icons, photos, wallpapers, WordPress templates and many more graphic and website design freebies.

If you are a freelance designer you know how great it can be working for yourself.
